The dramatic rescue of a Russian tourist holidaying in Greece’s Crete was captured on camera by an aircraft belonging to the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).
The 55-year-old woman drifted out to the sea by the currents and the wind, 6 nautical miles off the North of the island of Crete, on Thursday.
She was spotted by Frontex aircraft and was rescued by the Greek Coast Guard on Thursday.
Earlier, Greek police and the Coast Guard had launched a huge land and sea operation to find her, after her family who were staying in a hotel in Adelianos Kampos near the town of Rethymno, reported her missing.
