A group of demonstrators participating in Sunday’s rally against the use of the name ‘Macedonia’ by FYROM set upon Greece’s former deputy minister of Education, Kostas Zouraris.
Zouraris, who last week resigned from his post following uproar over insulting comments against football fans, was chased by angry demonstrators.
His bodyguards hurriedly led him to his car as demonstrators ran behind, threatening to lynch him.
Zouraris, a controversial figure and a member of the Independent Greeks party, has been an ardent opponent of the use of the Macedonia term by FYROM.
However, he has been accused of selling out by being a minister in a government which advocates a composite name for FYROM that includes the term ‘Macedonia’.
