A video of a pair of wild boars swimming off the coast of the western Peloponnese went viral in Greece on Friday, a day after it was uploaded to social media.
The amazing scene was captured by three amateur fishermen who sailed for a catch on the Ionian Sea near the coastal town of Killini.
“We thought we were dreaming,” said one of the fishermen.
The two animals were swimming about two nautical miles off the coast.
“We approached them and they seemed to have lost their orientation. We slowly nudged them with the boat and forced them towards the coast,” he added.
The boars managed to get ashore where the mystery was eventually solved.
They belonged to a nearby farm and as the embarrassed owner tried to explain they were chased away by dogs. They panicked and jumped into the sea.
