
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his country’s solidarity with Greece on Wednesday following the fire at Lesvos island’s Moria refugee camp, which was almost entirely destroyed by Tuesday night’s inferno.
On Facebook, Macron wrote in Greek: “The burning of a camp in Lesvos is a further tragedy for thousands of migrants already in distress. France will once again be at the rendezvous of solidarity with Greece. I will see Kyriakos Mitsotakis tomorrow.”

The two leaders will meet at the town of Porticcio, in Corsica, on Thursday, to attend the 7th meeting of the MED7 group of southern European countries, hosted by France.
