China’s national liquor — Kweichow Moutai — was the focus of an event held at the Athens Hilton on Sunday during China’s traditional New Year celebrations.
The event showcased the alcoholic beverage introduced to the Greek market by entrepreneur Petros Chang.
Moutai is a brand of baijiu, a distilled Chinese spirit, made in the town of Maotai in China’s Guizhou province.
China’s Kweichow Moutai is the world’s most valuable liquor company; its capitalization on Shanghai’s stock exchange overtook Britain’s Diageo in April and now stands at $142 billion.
The drink boasts a history of more than 800 years and has won numerous awards. With its products sold all over the world, it is also gaining a reputation as an internationally known liquor.
Moutai has steadily increased its sales in overseas markets. Expanding into the international market has become the primary goal of China’s national liquor.
