Three patients succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday in Greece, bringing the total number of fatalities from the virus to 160.

A 73-year-old woman died at Nimitz Hospital and a 57-year-old at Evangelismos Hospital. A 37-year old man also died in Sotiria Hospital, all three in Athens.

Health authorities announced on Thursday evening that the number of recorded cases since the start of the outbreak in the country is 2,770. So far, of the total infections, 610 are traced to travel abroad and 1,409 to known cases in Greece.

Meanwhile, a Roma settlement in Larissa, central Greece, has been put in quarantine for the second time in just over a month after 35 residents there tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The strict lockdown was imposed late on Thursday after Greece’s National Organization for Public Health (EODY) received confirmation of the outbreak from teams that had been sent to the New Smyrni settlement and tested more than 600 residents.

The same settlement, numbering roughly 3,000 individuals, had been placed in quarantine in early April after about a dozen residents had tested positive for COVID-19.
