The Athens Urban Transport Organisation (OASA) on Monday announced a special timetable ifor all public transport, with fewer trains and buses due to the special-purpose leave taken by drivers based on the Legislative Act outlining emergency measures for the coronavirus outbreak.

The new special timetable aims to ensure there is continued reliable service for passengers, while also taking into account a sharp drop in passenger traffic of up to 50 percent in the last few days.

According to figures, passenger traffic on the Athens metro has dropped by 40 percent, while that in trams has fallen by 60 percent. Bus stops are empty and most of the buses are running with very few passengers on board.

Citizens can be informed about the changes and the daily schedule for each line through the OASA Telematics app and website, as well as from the special phone line 11185.

OASA said it has provided antiseptic gel and 40,000 gloves for its drivers and staff at stations, ticket offices, administrative offices and drivers’ cabins, as well as ensuring the systematic cleaning and disinfection of all trains and vehicles by specialist teams to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus.
