Dimitris Parthenis, one of the most important figures in Greece’s fashion industry, died this weekend in an Athens hospital aged 74.
For almost 50 years Parthenis was synonymous with innovative design, based on his famous white with simple lines.
He established his first store in Athens in 1970. Nine years later he opened a boutique in Mykonos, a constant source of inspiration, and a stepping-stone for an international career.
A message on his company’s website on Monday read:
“We are sad to announce the death of Dimitris Parthenis, founder of Parthenis. Dimitris Parthenis will continue to be a source of inspiration for the brand.”
His daughter Orsalia has succeeded Parthenis at the creative helm of the company.
The Parthenis brand has minimal feel and elegant Greek aesthetic. All collections are designed and produced in Athens.
