Hollywood star Billy Zane was spotted enjoying a break at Mount Olympus known as the home of Zeus and the major Greek gods since before the time of Homer.
Zane, who became known for his villainous role as Caledon Hockley in the epic romantic disaster film Titanic, stayed at the luxurious Litohoro Olympus Resort which he used as a base to explore the natural beauty of the imposing mountain overlooking the Aegean.
His parents are both of Greek descent (from Chios through his mother and Mani through his father), and his family’s original surname, “Zanetakos”, was anglicized to “Zane” by his parents, who also raised him Greek Orthodox.
Zane is this year’s honored artist at the International Contemporary Art Fair, taking place in Thessaloniki later in November.
He will also star as Marlon Brando in the upcoming drama “Waltzing with Brandon”.
His other films include Back to the Future (1985) and its sequel Back to the Future Part II (1989), Dead Calm (1989), the television series Twin Peaks (1991), Tombstone (1993), Demon Knight (1995), The Phantom (1996) and the video game Kingdom Hearts (2002).
