Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is to visit Berlin in late August, at the invitation of German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
Merkel extended the invitation during a phone call to Mitsotakis on Tuesday morning to congratulate him on his victory in the elections.
Mitsotakis thanked her for the invitation, while the exact date of the visit – which will take place after the Greek parliament reconvenes on August 20 – is expected to be confirmed in the following days.
The new prime minister’s first visit abroad will be to Cyprus, after the government presents its policy platform, over the three-day period July 20-22.
The date of Mitsotakis’ visit was confirmed on Monday during a telephone call with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, who also congratulated him.
