Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is preparing to pay an official visit to Turkey on February 5, where he will meet with the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish leader extended the invitation to Tsipras at a UN summit in New York in late September of last year.
The leaders are expected to discuss bilateral issues and peace talks on Cyprus, which are currently stalled. The island of Cyprus has been split between the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ever since the Turkish invasion of 1974.
