Greece’s meteorological service issued a weather warning for a system of low pressure that will bring snow and hailstorms in many areas starting on Sunday.
According to meteo.gr, the system named “Penelope” was formed south of Italy on Saturday and moves slowly towards the east.
Heavy rains are expected to begin Sunday afternoon, which may be accompanied by hailstorms and snow in the mountains. Penelope’s effects are expected to be the worst in the Ionian and Western Greece.

On Monday Penelope is expected to extend to the east, affecting most of the country, as well as the prefecture of Attica. Snowfall will occur in the central and northern mountains. Heavy snow will affect even low-altitude areas in Northern Greece.
Harsh weather conditions have been forecasted to prevail until Thursday.
